Is Driclor Prescription

blekko.com: the new google? but of course ... Google

I read the last few days, the new http://blekko.com/ will come against the ogre google. In his time, Microsoft was portrayed as an ogre and everyone swore to get rid of Windows, MS Office and the free world will switch to Ubuntu. Yeah, well it's not exactly what happens ...
course competition is healthy but it is still necessary that the product is better and that people own it. Take Bing (France), it is not necessarily better (requires diplomacy) Google and it represents 2.8% (in August and September 2010) against 91.4% for Google. This situation is similar in most European countries. In the U.S., Google is increasing its leadership with 66% (Sept. 2010) against 11% for Bing.

Back to blekko : 22 employees and millions of Internet users (long term). I remain skeptical.
Yes, you can have users who are involved (Wikipedia) but I do not think blekko is the site that will attract the masses (millions) and become a competitor to Google. For now, only 32 people like about Facebook is that the magnitude ;-)

The principle of tags is not necessarily understood or used by half of Internet users.
blekko is in English (although http://blekko.fr/ Blekko poster * - * Coming soon), I think, while Google has 10 years, versions in French, German, Italian, sudois, Finnish, English, Portuguese, Dutch, Norwegian and Danish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

The average user is not a geek , he looks on google (because he seems more relevant for more than 90% of Europeans, excluding Russia) and found (or not) the answer to what he wants. The tags and other playthings are not used s by the majority.

Taking twitter users in France: about 250,000 in November 2010
Only 8% is only 20,000 daily twittent furious
We see the use of the Web are not the same if you work in the web / computer, which is a passion for IT or you just subscribed to an ISP with a few hours of connection months.

As for the other challengers, you must:
  • propose a simple and powerful engine
  • know
  • to Internet users that own it
so maybe that will put Blekko its name in the top 1% of U.S. searches.
For France, that's another story ...
